Which Boston store is clean, exciting and inspiring? Which sells a stationary sofa for $799? Which has the friendliest and most knowledgeable salespeople? These questions and more were answered by Furniture/Today’s panel of secret shoppers in search of stationary sofas.

Furniture/Today’s army of secret shoppers scoured the Boston metro for stationary sofas in December. Results reflect the information gathered by the shoppers, all females under age 40, during each store visit. Broken Arrow, Okla.-based Shoppers, Inc., recruited the shoppers.

The Boston metro stores shopped were: Arhaus Furniture, Natick; Bernie & Phyl's Furniture, Raynham; BJ's Wholesale, Natick; Bob's Discount Furniture, Dedham; Boston Interiors, Brookline; Cabot House Furniture, Saugus; Cardi's Furniture, Braintree; Circle Furniture, Cambridge; Costco, Everett; Crate & Barrel, Boston; Ethan Allen Design Center, Saugus; Ikea, Stoughton; Jordan's Furniture, Reading; Macy's Furniture Gallery, Framingham; Pier 1 Imports, Brookline; Raymour & Flanigan, North Attleboro; Rotmans Furniture & Carpet, Worcester; Stickley, Audi & Co., Natick; Target, Boston; and Wal-Mart, Lynn, Mass.
