The 2009 JCK State of the Industry Survey is three pages of survey findings about jewelry industry sales volume, number of employees, firm size by revenue and number of doors, and more.
The survey was conducted in March 2009, and was e-mailed to 10,000 industry members; some 296 retailers responded (according to data from the Jewelers Board of Trade, some 22,376 retailers operate in the U.S.)
JCK surveyed retailers on key topics like sales volume, number of doors, and plans for staffing and opinions on local economies. Findings help businesses benchmark themselves against others, plan for expansion, and glean advice on how to weather the recession. Some 296 retailers responded to the survey (according to data from the Jewelers Board of Trade, some 22,376 retailers operate in the U.S.).
Included in the article are, for retailers nationwide and by region, charts featuring:
- Overall average annual sales volume, and by firm revenues.
- Percentage of firms with single- and multi-store operations.
- Number of employees.
- Product mix changes (such as adding lower price points) since start of recession.
- Percentages of retailers planning to cut and/or add staff.
- Nationwide opinions on local economies.
- And more.
