Originally published in the October 18, 2014 print issue of Furniture Today.

Furniture imports grew 10% for the first six months of this year, a sign that consumers continue to seek price and value-driven goods from producers in Asia, Europe and other emerging markets around the world. According to figures from U.S. Customs and other government agencies, furniture imports totaled $10.7 billion compared with $9.7 billion the first six months of 2013.

Data is based on the dollar values declared by importers and exporters to the U.S. Customs Service. The figures are coded according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and made available to Furniture Today by the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Customs Service.
