The latest update in Home Textiles Today's series on the area rug market provides a look at where area and accents rugs were sold in 2009 and how the distribution channels changed from 2008. While total 2009 retail sales for area rugs decreased 18.5% from 2008, the channels performing the best were discount department stores, including Wal-Mart, Target and Kmart, and mid-priced chains, including JCPenney, Kohl's, Meijer and Sears.
