Our annual report look at trends and forecasts for the upcoming year is based on a survey of gift and home accent vendors, conducted by our research department. This year’s results also took a look back in time, using results from similar surveys conducted in 2006 and 2002. The Survey: Data for this year’s results were collected both by fax and online during August and September and is based on the answers of 322 manufacturers. About two-fifths of vendors offer home accent pieces. Holiday products are offered by at least a third. A minimum of one-quarter offer garden décor and tabletop. Between one-quarter and one-fifth offer candles and candle accessories, stationary and greeting cards, kids’ products and collectibles. Jewelry and fashion accents and personal care or aromatherapy items are also among the products offered. The bulk of vendors who responded to the survey, about three-fifths, had sales ranging from under %500,000 to just under $3 million. Nearly another one-quarter estimate their annual sales as at least $3 million but less than $10 million. The remaining 18 percent have sales of $10 million or more.
