Furniture/Today’s exclusive report, the Case Goods Style Survey, reflects the 2007 sales of retailers operating more than 1,900 stores in the U.S.
To determine market share, responses were weighted to reflect a retailer’s sales in each product category and at each price point level. For example, the response from a retailer with annual sales of $20 million in master bedroom was given greater weight than sales from a store generating $5 million in that category.
For fastest-growing or best-selling results, at least 5% of the retailers’ responses had to identify a style, wood or finish as showing the fastest sales growth or being the best-selling to be reported. By far the largest group of retailers responding to the survey were furniture stores, but sales experiences of department stores and discount department stores are also included in the results to provide an overall picture of the market.
