Furniture/Today's exclusive report provides market share data for percentage of units sold in 2012 for both the styles and fabrics for stationary sofas, motion sofas and reclining chairs. Results are presented by low, middle, upper-middle and high price points.
Unit market share data for fabric constructions including leather, textures, chenille wovens, flat wovens, prints, microdeniers, bonded leather, suedes, velvets and other fabrics by price points are also presented. Unit market share data for styles include contemporary, casual, traditional, country and other styles.
This exclusive report, the Upholstery Fabric and Style Survey, reflects the answers of more than 100 furniture stores. Each store’s 2012 unit sales of
upholstery were used as the basis for the market share data. Contacted during June and July, retailers based responses for different styles and fabric covers in stationary sofas, motion sofas and reclining chairs at low, middle, upper-middle and high price points.
To determine market share, responses were weighted to reflect a retailer’s unit sales in each category and at each price level. The response from a store with annual sales of $20 million in stationary was given greater weight than sales from a store generating $5 million for the category.
