Furniture Today's 2008 Retail Dining Survey - Casual vs. Formal

During November and December, Furniture Today surveyed furniture retailers about their casual and formal dining operations, including mix by table heights and shapes. This report provides retailers with benchmarks to measure their store's dining merchandise performance.

Responding retailers operate a total of 605 stores and recorded more than $1.5 billion in combined sales in 2007. One-third of responding retailers either rank on Furniture Today's Top 100 US Furniture Stores or are listed on Furniture Today's Beyond the Top 100.

Included in the mix of retailers answering the survey are full-line furniture stores, dining and dinette specialistst and manufacturer-specific retailers. One-store operations constitute more than half of responding retailers. Respondents with two to four stores represent one-fourth of the total, and the remaining one-fifth of retailers operate five or more stores.
