During March and April, Furniture/Today surveyed bedding retailers about their operations, including bedding merchandise mix by type of bed. This report provides retailers with benchmarks to measure bedding merchandise performance. Responding retailers operate more than 2,500 stores. Respondents recorded more than $1.5 billion in combined sales in 2007. Nearly half of the responding retailers either rank on Furniture/Today’s Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores or Furniture/Today’s Top 25 Bedding Retailers or are listed on Furniture/Today’s Beyond the Top 100. Included in the mix of retailers answering the survey are bedding specialists, furniture stores and manufacturer-branded stores. For reporting purposes, bedding specialist results are reported separately and results for furniture stores and manufacturer-branded stores are grouped together.
