It's all about the style as seven out of ten consumers look for style and design elements when shopping for entertainment furniture. That's a key finding from Furniture/Today and HGTV’s 2011 Consumer Views Survey. The exclusive results report style as the most important entertainment product feature among consumers.
What entertainment styles do consumers prefer? Overall, 43% of respondents prefer traditional styles and 28% favor contemporary ones. In looking at the style data by region, results show that consumers living in the South are more likely to prefer traditional design elements, while those living in the West are more likely to prefer contemporary.
Durability is the second-most important feature, chosen by 67% of the responding 6,612 U.S. consumers. The length of time buyers plan to keep the product is linked to the consumer's desire for durable product.
Furniture/Today and HGTV's 2011 Consumer Views Survey received responses from 6,612 U.S. consumers. The survey fielded as part of HGTV's Ideas weekly e-newsletter in January. Because of the large sample size, the survey data can be projected, within this population, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.2%.
