U.S. consumers spent $7.7 billion on master bedroom furniture in 2009. The category accounted for 11% of the total furniture and bedding market and 22% of the entire case goods and occasional market. In 2010, 13% of consumer households plan to purchase master bedroom furniture.
What specific master bedroom products do consumers plan to buy this year and where’s the first place they’ll shop? How much do consumers expect to pay and how long do they want their new furniture to last? More than 8,400 U.S. consumers answered these questions and more as part of a January 2010 Furniture Today survey, fielded in partnership with HGTV. survey fielded as part of HGTV’s Ideas weekly e-newsletter. Because of the large sample size, the survey data can be projected within this population with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.1%.
