Furniture/Today published a compilation of 2010 Census data in January and February on a number of key economic indicators, such as total population, income, education and housing. The data revealed the percentage of married couples dropped from 52% in 2000 to 48% in 2010.
According to the housing report there was a 14.2% increase in the number of renter-occupied households, compared with an 8.8% increase in owner-occupied households. It also predicted features for the single-family home in 2015.
Information on population and housing topics was gathered from the 2010 Census Briefs series, located on the U.S. Census Bureau's Web site at www.census.gov. This series presents information about race, Hispanic origin, age, sex, household type, housing tenure and people who reside in group quarters.
