A survey from Playthings and Reed Research Group, the 'Playthings Consumer Toy Report,' culled from a survey of nearly 6,000 consumers in North America, notes that toys are still very important to kids and their caregivers. More than 80 percent of the parents and caregivers surveyed said toys were extremely or somewhat important when they were children. Toys, they said, allowed them to escape, pretend to be in different places and create a special world. Of the consumers surveyed, 90 percent said that toys were important to the children they care for. Consumers also reported their average yearly spending for toys and voted for their favorite toys - including which one they would want on a deserted island! The report also discusses the decision-making process for toy buying and toys relative to behavior. 'A Look Into America's Perception of Children's Toys' is a 'must read' for toy industry professionals!
