This year’s annual fabric survey outlines what fabric combinations sold best at retail in 2008 on outdoor furniture in terms of color and design on cushions and sling seating and gives retailer’s projections of what they think will be best sellers during the upcoming 2009 season. The same information is provided for accent pillows. It also gives their experience with fabric construction and fiber types for cushions. Retailers also reveal what colors they’re purchasing to gain attention on their retail floors. This year, for the first time, there is a consumer component to the report. Data from Casual Living’s exclusive consumer survey conducted in conjunction with HGTV gives insight into what consumers think is important about fabrics on outdoor furniture. Casual Living’s exclusive consumer data is based on the responses of 13,878 U.S. consumers gathered from a survey conducted in partnership with HGTV. Data were collected via an online survey in April 2008. Because of the large sample size, the survey data can be projected with a margin of error of plus or minus less than 1%. Nearly one-half of the consumers responding to the survey had an annual income of $50,000 to $99,999.
