Grill sales are expected to top $2.3 billion over the next five years, a 16.2% gain from 2013, according to recent data from Easy Analytic Software Inc. Population and household income growth across the nation, as well as year-round outdoor grilling will all play a major role in the expansion of grill sales by 2018.
The 2013 grill sales estimates and projections were developed by Casual Living market research and Easy Analytic Software Inc.
Sales figures are based on data available through October 2013 and are subject to revision. Estimates are based on information from the Department of Commerce, the International Trade Commission, sales estimates from manufacturers and retailers, Casual Living and Apartment Therapy consumer surveys and information garnered from discussions with industry executives and analysts.
Projections for 2018 are designed to forecast the changes that statistically adjust for household income, age by race and sex, group quarter population and births and deaths, along with other forecasting factors. Spending forecasts assume a national rate of inflation that does not vary from one location to another.
Also included in the report, exclusive data from Casual Living and New York-based Apartment Therapy; which fielded an online consumer survey in 2013. The survey, asking readers about the outdoor spaces in and around their home, garnered responses from 500 consumers.
Two-thirds of consumers own a grill, according to research from Casual Living and New York-based Apartment Therapy. Almost one quarter of those grill masters and occasional burger flippers bought the grill first when furnishing their outdoor space.
