 Asian Connections -- Originally published in the May 7th issue of Furniture Today.
Earlier this year, Furniture/Today contacted a number of furniture importers and manufacturers that have chosen to more closely align themselves with their Asian source partners. Some of these importers have developed sole source relationship with these factories, while others have acquired an ownership stake in the plants themselves. Others have set up their own manufacturing or are marketing companies that are actually owned by an Asian manufacturer. This group of stories examines the complexities of these relationships as well as the challenges and benefits they offer to companies that source product from Asia.
